According to Livecoins, Brazil’s Higher Court of Justice rejected the release application filed by Mirelis Yoseline Diaz Zerpa, the partner of the “Bitcoin Pharaoh.” Court documents state that Zerpa previously fled to the United States for nearly 4 years, then was deported back to Brazil and arrested due to visa issues. The investigation by federal prosecutors also tracked related wallets and international exchange accounts, showing cryptocurrency asset activity totaling approximately $3.95 million in January 2025. Given that her ability to access large amounts of cryptocurrency assets poses a serious money-laundering risk, the court decided to maintain her preventive detention.
