#我的Gate交易时刻 An experienced user's real story: A letter to those new to the crypto world

In 2018, I opened Gate's page for the first time out of curiosity. Back then, the crypto scene for me was like Liu Laolao entering the Grand View Garden—full of unfamiliar terms and jumping numbers.
One My first trade: starting with "familiarity"
Like many newcomers, I only heard of one coin: Dogecoin. It was about four cents RMB each, so I bought some. No research, no plan, just because I "heard of it," and thought it was reliable.
The story that followed, you might guess—price dropped, I panicked. Because I had no understanding of cryptocurrencies, I was especially panicked, and ultimately sold at a loss, cutting my position.
Missed opportunities are not just that one trade
If I hadn't sold out in panic back then, if I had known more before making a decision...
But life has no "what ifs." In the 2021 bull market, Dogecoin experienced a remarkable surge. And I, because of my initial "panic from ignorance," completely missed it.
Two Later, I chose a different path
That experience made me realize: in this market, luck can't save you; understanding can.
I started spending time learning, understanding the basics of blockchain, grasping the logic of different projects, and studying market patterns. Gradually, I stopped trading on feelings and developed my own judgment.
More importantly, through in-depth understanding, I firmly believe in and am optimistic about Gate's future. From 2018 to now, I have experienced market booms and busts with Gate, witnessed the platform's growth and improvements. This trust is not blind but based on long-term observation and genuine experience.
Three A few sincere suggestions for new friends
1 Don't buy just because you've "heard of" it
When I bought Dogecoin, it was simply because I knew about it. But looking back now, that’s not enough to support an investment decision. At least, you should know: what is this project doing? What is its value logic?
2 Don't panic during declines
Market fluctuations are normal. If you panic at a dip and sell, you might end up like me, losing everything before dawn. Ask yourself: is your sell decision based on rational judgment or emotional loss of control?
3 Learning is the best moat
The wave of market opportunities I missed was superficially due to bad luck, but essentially because of insufficient understanding. Later, I started learning, not to "predict rises and falls," but to "know why I buy and why I sell."
4 Choose a platform you trust
There are many platforms in the crypto space, but few can operate steadily over the long term and continuously improve their user experience. I’ve stayed with Gate for so many years because it makes me feel secure.
5 Invest only what you can afford to lose
This is a common saying, but it must be emphasized. Never put all your assets into one basket. Maintaining a good mindset depends on this: even if this money goes to zero, your life won't collapse.
Finally, I want to say that the crypto world is indeed a "new world," but it’s not mysterious. It rewards those willing to learn, able to control their emotions, and committed to long-term thinking.
