Wu said that the liquidity staking protocol Stader Labs officially announced it will gradually shut down its Polygon liquidity staking token MaticX. Starting today, MaticX has stopped accepting new fund deposits and has fully transitioned to a "claims-only" state. The official announcement shows that the MaticX application frontend (dApp UI) will be officially discontinued on August 3, 2026. Before this date, users can still redeem immediately through the dApp at a fixed exchange rate; after the frontend is closed on August 3, 2026, and until August 3, 2029, users can still claim their MATIC assets directly through the Etherscan contract page.

Not until 2029 will it be completely shut down. Stader's exit mechanism is quite solid, but MaticX holders now need to quickly decide whether to redeem immediately or wait and see.

MaticX’s shutdown time window this time is quite long; the three-year contract backing it up is indeed considerate. However, the liquidity in the Polygon ecosystem is definitely shrinking, so it’s also normal to exit early.
