Coinbase's Independent Advisory Committee released a report stating that the Bitcoin community should immediately begin preparing for quantum-resistant security by developing and implementing a migration path to post-quantum cryptography. The report mentions that approximately 1.7 million BTC are stored in old addresses with exposed public keys, which may be at risk of future quantum attacks. The report also discusses several proposals to facilitate Bitcoin's transition to quantum-resistant security, including limiting the amount of BTC that can be moved per block and allowing users to prove ownership through post-quantum cryptographic methods.
