🇯🇵 Metaplanet Acquires Japanese Securities Firm to Expand Its Bitcoin Financial EcosystemMetaplanet has agreed to acquire 100% of Siiibo Securities for approximately ¥2.1 billion ($13.1 million), marking another step in its strategy to build Bitcoin-focused financial services in Japan.
🔸 The acquisition is expected to close in July, after which the firm will be renamed Metaplanet Securities and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Metaplanet.
🔸 CEO Simon Gerovich described the deal as the first major milestone of Project Nova, an initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive Bitcoin-centered financial ecosystem for Japanese investors.
🔸 Through its new securities arm, Metaplanet plans to develop a range of Bitcoin-linked investment products and yield-generating financial instruments.
🔸 The strategy will leverage the company's growing Bitcoin treasury, which currently holds more than 40,177 BTC, making Metaplanet one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders globally.
The acquisition signals Metaplanet's ambition to evolve from a Bitcoin treasury company into a full-service financial institution built around Bitcoin.
