Abstract generation in progress

CryptoWorld News reports that Mistral AI is in talks with investors about a new round of financing, planning to raise approximately 3 billion euros (about $3.5 billion). Its valuation is expected to reach 20 billion euros, and it may be increased further depending on investor demand. This represents a significant doubling compared with the 11.7 billion euro valuation from its funding round last September. Negotiations are still in an early stage, and specific terms may change.

Semiconductor equipment giant ASML is the largest shareholder in Mistral AI. Last year, ASML invested 1.3 billion euros, with a stake of 11%. Mistral AI was founded in 2023 by former researchers from Google DeepMind and Meta. It mainly serves European governments and enterprises, manages local data centers in France and Sweden, and has recently signed cooperation agreements with Airbus and BMW. To expand its business, Mistral AI is in talks with institutions such as European banks, planning to provide cybersecurity models to replace Anthropic’s Mythos model.

Local data center + government orders, Mistral's approach is very European-style, different from Silicon Valley's way.

$3.0 billion in new funding— the terms still aren’t set in stone, and I expect the final number to jump up even higher by a noticeable margin.
