My second aunt has been working in the gynecology department of the Maternal and Child Health Hospital for over thirty years.

A few days ago, during a family gathering, a cousin-in-law who just got pregnant was holding her phone, following behind everyone and asking,
"Is it safe to take folic acid during early pregnancy?"
After asking around, she came over to second aunt.
Second aunt glanced at her test results and said, "It's fine, pretty good, just regular prenatal checkups are enough."
The cousin-in-law left, and second aunt sat on the sofa peeling an orange, suddenly blurting out without thinking, "Nowadays, these young girls, getting an abortion is like booking a manicure."
Everyone in the room fell silent.

I looked up some data afterward, and it’s really shocking.
Our country has about 13 million abortions each year, which means roughly 35k procedures are performed daily.
More than 40% of these are girls under 24, nearly half are repeat abortions, and some young girls have already had several procedures at a very young age.

Many young girls are being misled; everywhere you see ads for "painless abortion, sleep peacefully," plus, no one taught them about these things when they were kids.
Some didn’t even use proper safety measures, and only panic when something goes wrong.
Second aunt said she has seen many students come in, asking, "When can I do it? I have classes tomorrow," which sounds really uncomfortable.

The key is, many people don’t realize how serious the risks behind this are.
One improper procedure can damage the endometrial lining or cause infections and inflammation.
When they really want to have children later, they might find it impossible to conceive and regret it.
Statistics show that nearly 90% of women who can’t get pregnant have had abortions, and the more times they’ve had them, the higher the risk of placental problems and preterm birth in future pregnancies.

Like second aunt and others who have seen a lot in delivery rooms, they don’t take it seriously while they still have the chance to give birth.
Once the door is closed, it’s forever shut.
In the end, abortion is a remedial measure, not a method of contraception.
If you haven’t thought it through, protect yourself.
It’s about being responsible for yourself.
Don’t wait until one day you’re in the hospital corridor and realize why second aunt said such a weighty thing while peeling an orange.
