A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters off western Cuba, rare in the Caribbean region

At 14:00 local time on the 8th and 02:00 Beijing time on the 9th, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the western waters of Cuba. Tremors were felt in Havana, Cuba’s capital, as well as in parts of Florida in the United States and in some areas of Mexico. Seismologists said the quake occurred within a tectonic plate and is relatively rare in the Caribbean region. (CCTV News)
