Deep Tide TechFlow News: On June 13, according to Xinhua Daily, the Ya’an police in Sichuan cracked a cross-border online pornography-related criminal case. The case involved a pornographic comic website called “Shame-Shame Color Comics,” which induced teenagers to frequently make small top-ups to generate profits. The website had more than 100 million visits, and the flow of funds reached more than 12 million yuan (approximately 1.66 million USD). The police found that people within China received the proceeds through multiple companies and personal accounts, and that Li Mouwu and others transferred the money abroad via virtual currency.

Recently, the People’s Court of Mingshan District, Ya’an City, handed down a first-instance verdict. Five defendants were sentenced to terms for the crimes of profit from distributing obscene materials and of assisting in information network criminal activities. At present, judicial authorities are still investigating the overseas financial backer behind the website.
