Crypto World News reports that, according to livecoins, the Brazilian House of Representatives' Finance and Taxation Committee (CFT) has approved a bill to punish online fraud, authorizing the freezing of cryptocurrency balances of police investigation targets, and increasing the prison sentence for cyberattacks to 6 to 10 years. Judges have the authority to freeze assets of suspects in Bitcoin exchanges and bank accounts, with preventive measures including freezing physical assets and banning the use of payment systems. The bill will be submitted for review by the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ).

6 to 10 years in prison, feels heavier than many traditional financial crimes, lawmakers are truly scared stiff by crypto scams.

Frozen physical assets plus a disabled/blocked payment system—after this combined “one-two punch,” on-chain addresses can be hidden, but the withdrawal channels are basically deadlocked.

Brazil's move is pretty aggressive, directly freezing exchange balances. From now on, playing DeFi in Brazil might need to be a bit more cautious.
