#我的Gate交易时刻
For a long time, my trading logic only involved "going long" and "holding."
The market goes up, I make money; the market goes down, I lose money, completely passively taking hits.
This state lasted for almost a year until I suffered three consecutive setbacks with altcoins.
Most of those "shitcoin projects" that even have inexplicable whitepapers, once launched, mostly follow a path of continuous decline.
And I kept fantasizing, "Maybe this time is different"—but it was always the same.
After walking through the dark tunnel of losses for too long, I finally realized a fact:
For those air coins with no real value, no genuine users, and no liquidity, shorting is the best risk management.
The first time I shorted an altcoin contract, my hands trembled—
Long positions are okay because "it's just the market being wrong, not me," but once a short gets blown out,
the pain of missing out feels worse than the loss itself.
A few times I clearly saw signs of a trend reversal, but due to the psychological shadow of being "counterattacked" by altcoins in the past,
I hesitated to enter decisively, watching others eat up the entire decline while I could only pat my thighs in hindsight.
💡 After several trial-and-error attempts at shorting altcoins, I summarized some effective experiences:
🚩 Check liquidity before shorting: low-liquidity altcoins are not worth heavy positions;
when trying to buy in, there might be no buy orders at all, and even if the direction is correct,
the market depth might prevent closing the position.
🚩 Only use small funds for altcoin contracts: even if you lose, it’s no big deal;
the worst is to get over-leveraged and get wiped out in one wave.
🚩 Going with the trend is much more important than guessing the top or bottom:
judging the trend direction is more reliable than betting on specific price points.
📈 Long-term trading experience has helped me form a stable mindset:
✅ Holding GT long-term earns the certainty of platform growth, not relying on short-term market sentiment fluctuations—
GT is supported by real platform revenue and buyback/burn mechanisms, with a clear logic.
✅ Nvidia’s industry cycle is another direction;
the explosion of AI computing power has driven a revaluation of the entire tech industry.
✅ As for altcoins, choosing long positions carefully and being decisive with shorts are essential.
I am still not a "shorting-oriented" trader, but I have learned to short at the right times—
this ability leaves countless more options than just holding full positions and enduring.
