Japanese publicly listed company Metaplanet announced it will acquire 100% ownership of the licensed Japanese Tier 1 securities firm Siiibo Securities for 2.1 billion yen (approximately 13 million USD), with the transaction expected to close in July. The latter will be renamed Metaplanet Securities. Metaplanet stated that this acquisition is the first major merger and acquisition for its Bitcoin financial ecosystem strategy Project Nova, which will leverage the brokerage license and customer base to explore businesses such as Bitcoin-linked bonds, digital securities, stablecoin payments, and digital asset custody.
