OpenAI officially announces the acquisition of developer cloud execution platform Ona, whose secure cloud execution and task orchestration technology will be integrated into OpenAI's Codex ecosystem, further enhancing the long-term operational capabilities of AI agents in software development and knowledge work scenarios.
OpenAI states that currently, more than 5 million people use Code weekly for research, analysis, building, and automation tasks, a 400% increase compared to earlier this year.
Codex was originally aimed at software developers, but has now expanded to support the full process from requirement proposal to completing complex tasks. This acquisition will further promote Codex's evolution from a single-device, single-session tool to a long-term operational AI agent platform oriented toward enterprise production environments.
