BlackRock Submits Revised Filing for a Bitcoin Income ETF; Management Fee Set at 0.65%, Set to Go Live in Early July

On June 10, it was reported that BlackRock’s iShares submitted the fourth version of the S-1 amendment for a Bitcoin income ETF (ticker $BITA) to the U.S. SEC. Industry expert Eric Balchunas interpreted that this amendment is most likely the final version.

The ETF’s management fee is set at 0.65% (65 bps). This fee level is higher than similar products like $BITB, but lower than the two largest covered call ETFs currently on the market; these two ETFs have fees of 0.95% and 0.99%, respectively.

Market speculation suggests the product will be officially launched soon. BlackRock intends to get to market ahead of Goldman Sachs. The product is expected to take effect around July 1.

As Eric Balchunas said in an earlier post, the market’s subsequent focus will be on how much upside return this ETF can generate for investors through options strategies.

He also compared the current yields of similar Bitcoin income products on the market—for example, $YBIT has a yield of 10%, and $XBCI is also 10%. The subsequent actual yield performance of $BITA is likewise worth continued market observation.
