Why do so many people give up? Because they can only see the results in the moment—they can’t see the curve behind those results. 0.001 doubled becomes 0.002, doubled again becomes 0.004, doubled again becomes 0.008. For a long stretch of time, you can hardly feel any change. Only on the 15th time does it finally become 32; on the 30th time, it’s already over a million; on the 35th time, it’s more than thirty million. The truly cruel part is that the first 15 times look just like failure, just like wasted effort, just like there’s no hope. But it’s precisely during this period that most people quit. Those who can push through aren’t necessarily tougher—they simply understand this curve in advance: they know they’re not without growth, they just haven’t reached the point where the breakout becomes visible. So persistence was never about hype—it’s a cognitive advantage. You can only endure the first half that others can’t endure when you can see the second half that others can’t see.
