Today I want to talk about my close friend who married into a wealthy family, a second-generation heiress.

(Real story, not a novel)
My friend and her husband are classmates, and they’ve been in love for ten years before getting married.
My friend is also a wealthy second-generation from Shenzhen.
But after marriage, her in-laws told her to cut off contact with us, her friends.
(I think we’re not that bad, 😑 but compared to these wealthy families, there’s definitely a class distinction, 😅)
Her in-laws said that since she married into a wealthy family,
she needs to maintain the family’s reputation to avoid being influenced by friends around her.
She shouldn’t work anymore; these public-facing activities could risk damaging the family’s reputation.
Regarding my friend’s situation, it’s quite thought-provoking for me.
I’m not sure if her sacrifice is worth it, since she’s also a wealthy second-generation.
But she married her husband because of many years of love.
She now lives in the most famous villa area in the center of Shenzhen.
(I won’t say which neighborhood, to avoid being PR’d)
Her home is as large as a spa outside.
Many second-generation Shenzhen classmates’ families’ homes do have “karaoke inside the villa, koi fish in the pool,” which are all real.
But her koi fish tank is big enough for a person to swim in.
Besides the basic pool, gym, and KTV, her classmates’ homes also have massage rooms, barber rooms, beauty salons—all with technicians coming to the house.
Just like Zhou Yangqing asked people around her, don’t you have a home theater?
Rich kids are well protected, avoiding bad influences from society outside.
When I was young, Shenzhen was very small.
Small enough that I could run into classmates everywhere.
Now Shenzhen is really big.
Big enough that I can no longer run into classmates by chance.
