The Ministry says that authorities found multiple local locations using professional cryptocurrency mining equipment; some residents are suspected of unlawfully consuming large amounts of electricity and using the relevant equipment for systematic mining to obtain illegal income. The case is being investigated under Article 229 of the Georgian Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 3 years’ imprisonment.
