Iran's Vice President states that the U.S. stance is "erratic," reaffirming that control of the strait is crucial

ME News, on April 20 (UTC+8), Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif said that Iran’s negotiating team is “bravely defending” the country’s interests. Arif said, “The other side’s position in the negotiations is unpredictable; sometimes they plead under pressure, and sometimes they take a stubborn stance.” Arif also reiterated that Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz is crucial. “If we control the Strait of Hormuz, there is no need to wait for sanctions to be lifted; sanctions would actually become meaningless,” he said.
