Three ways for Chinese people to buy U.S. stocks are now turning into one. You don’t need me to explain how troublesome this used to be. Opening an account with TD Ameritrade requires a passport and an overseas bank account, and depositing funds via wire transfer takes 3-5 business days and may even be returned. Futu and Tiger Brokers were simpler, but they’ve now been cleared out. Tokenized U.S. stocks have the lowest threshold, but the holdings you have aren’t real stocks—you don’t have voting rights, and there are no dividend guarantees.
