Zelensky sends an open letter to Putin, proposing a meeting

ME News report: On June 5 (UTC+8), local time June 4, Ukrainian President Zelensky sent an open letter to Russian President Putin, proposing a direct meeting between the two leaders. The letter says it aims to “promote an end to the conflict through fair and decent means, and build a practical and effective security guarantee mechanism.” The open letter also states that Ukraine has no intention of allowing the conflict to continue in the long term and has proactively put forward a ceasefire negotiation plan. Regarding the meeting and negotiation process, the Ukrainian side proposes that Ukraine and Russia first hold direct consultations, and then the United States, Europe, and other relevant parties would participate in the negotiations to provide support for the subsequent establishment of a security guarantee system. In the letter, Zelensky said that Ukraine has made preparations for negotiations, is willing to implement a comprehensive ceasefire during the negotiation process, and will adhere to the principle of “all for all” to carry out prisoner exchanges with Russia and fully cooperate to advance peace talks. Russia’s presidential press secretary Peskov’s latest response said that Putin has not yet read Zelensky’s open letter. (Source: ODAILY)
