According to NPR, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are investigating former U.S. Representative George Santos's trading activities on the prediction market platform Kalshi. Santos publicly stated he would attend an event before Trump's State of the Union address in February this year, but sources familiar with the matter say he also bet on himself not attending on Kalshi, and profited tens of thousands of dollars after ultimately not attending. The report states that Kalshi froze his account after discovering the related trades and has referred the case to the DOJ and CFTC. Santos claims he is unaware of the investigation and has not confirmed whether he owns a Kalshi account. Currently, both regulatory agencies have not publicly commented.
