#TONRenamesNativeTokenToGram
The Open Network (TON) has officially rebranded its native token from Toncoin to Gram, as announced on June 1, 2026 by Telegram founder Pavel Durov. This change is widely interpreted as a symbolic return to the project’s original identity rather than a technical alteration of the underlying blockchain.
The “Gram” name originates from Telegram’s early 2018 whitepaper, where the token was first introduced before regulatory pressure forced the company to step away from direct issuance. The project was later continued by the community under the TON framework, making this renaming more of a restoration of original vision rather than a structural transition. The blockchain name TON remains unchanged, and no token migration or user action is required.
Following the announcement, TON recorded a strong short-term rally of approximately 10% to 21% within 24 hours. Price moved from around the $2.00 region toward the $2.10–$2.25 range at peak momentum. The move was primarily driven by narrative impact and speculative repositioning rather than any protocol-level upgrade.
Trading volume increased noticeably during the reaction phase, indicating strong market participation. The price movement reflects how branding and narrative shifts can influence short-term sentiment in crypto markets, even in the absence of fundamental technical changes.
At present, TON is trading near $2.14 and holding above a key support level around $1.88. This level previously acted as resistance and has now turned into support, forming a breakout and retest structure that is generally considered constructive in technical analysis.
The current structure shows higher lows and sustained positioning above major moving averages, suggesting that momentum remains intact on higher timeframes.
Key levels remain clearly defined. Immediate resistance is located between $2.37 and $2.40, while a stronger psychological barrier sits near $3.00. On the downside, support levels are positioned at $1.88, $1.70, and $1.61. Maintaining price above $1.88 is important for preserving the current bullish structure.
Sentiment across the market has shifted positively following the rebrand. Traders are interpreting the move as a strengthening of identity alignment with Telegram’s original vision, which has increased attention and speculative interest.
The rally is primarily narrative-driven, supported by increased volume and short-term momentum flows. Market participants are now watching whether this move develops into a sustained trend or remains a temporary reaction to branding news.
Short-term expectations point toward potential continuation toward the $2.40 zone, with further extension possible toward $3.00 if momentum persists. Medium-term scenarios suggest a broader range between $3.00 and $4.00 depending on ecosystem growth, adoption, and integration across Telegram-based services. More conservative models still estimate fair value closer to $1.77–$1.85 under slower adoption conditions.
From a fundamental perspective, TON benefits from strong distribution through Telegram’s global user base. This provides a unique advantage for onboarding and ecosystem expansion compared to many other blockchain projects.
Ongoing development in payments, decentralized applications, and staking mechanisms continues to strengthen the network’s utility profile. These factors support long-term adoption potential, although execution remains key.
Despite the positive momentum, risks remain present. The rebrand itself does not introduce technical upgrades, meaning price action is largely sentiment-driven. Broader crypto market conditions, Bitcoin direction, and liquidity cycles will continue to influence TON’s performance.
A breakdown below $1.88 would weaken the current bullish structure and likely lead to deeper corrective movement. Volatility remains high due to speculative positioning around narrative-driven events.
Overall, the Gram rebrand represents a significant symbolic milestone for the TON ecosystem. It strengthens branding alignment with Telegram and reinforces long-term ecosystem identity. However, sustained performance will depend on real adoption, ecosystem development, and broader market conditions.
At current levels near $2.14, the structure remains constructive but still sensitive to sentiment shifts and market-wide volatility.
