Bitmine Buys 26.497 ETH, Already Controls 4.49% of Ethereum Supply

Bitmine is once again increasing its asset reserves by acquiring 26.497 ETH at an average price of $2,061, with a total expenditure of $54.61 million. This addition raises the company's total holdings to 5,416,901 ETH with an estimated valuation of around $10.76 billion, solidifying Bitmine's position as the second-largest digital asset reserve holder in the world after Strategy.
Chairman of Bitmine, Tom Lee, projects that his company will reach a target ownership of 5% of the total Ethereum supply by 2026. Currently, Bitmine is recorded to have control over approximately 4.49% of the 120.7 million ETH in circulation. However, behind this aggressive accumulation, Bitmine is currently bearing a floating loss of $8.12 billion, or about 43%. This occurs because their overall average cost basis for ETH assets is at $3,485, well above the current ETH price around $1,979.
To optimize asset utility amid the price pressure, Bitmine maximizes returns through staking mechanisms. The company has locked approximately 4.7 million ETH, generating an annual income of $258 million. Lee is optimistic that this yield projection can increase to $296 million annually when all of Bitmine's ETH assets are fully locked through internal validator networks (MAVAN) and strategic partners like Coinbase.
