Bitcoin Drops to $70,000 After Trump Maintains Strait of Hormuz Blockade
Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated again after President Donald Trump reaffirmed that the U.S. Navy will continue the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran announced the suspension of all negotiations with Washington due to alleged violations of the ceasefire.
Trump stated that the blockade of this strategic shipping lane will remain in place as part of pressure on Iran amid stalled peace talks and disputes over Tehran's nuclear program. The Strait of Hormuz itself is a vital route through which about 20% of the world's oil supplies pass.
On the other hand, Iran's state media reported that Tehran has halted communication and indirect negotiations with the United States through mediators. Iran accused the U.S.-backed parties of violating the ceasefire and emphasized that there will be no further dialogue until attacks and military operations deemed to violate the agreement are fully stopped.
Iran also warned of possible more aggressive steps, including a full closure of the Strait of Hormuz and activation of other strategic points such as Bab el-Mandeb if the situation worsens. These threats have immediately raised concerns in global markets about energy supplies and international trade stability.
