Many people interpret weight loss as an appearance project, but at a deeper level: when a person starts controlling their diet, maintaining a regular schedule, and sticking to exercise, they are training a certain ability—delayed gratification. In reality society, most rewards come from delayed gratification: learning requires delayed gratification; saving money requires delayed gratification; entrepreneurship requires delayed gratification; investing requires delayed gratification; even managing relationships also requires delayed gratification. So many people find that after successfully losing weight, their income may not immediately increase, but their overall state begins to change. Because for the first time, they prove to themselves: they are capable of controlling their desires.
