ME News Report, April 18 (UTC+8), U.S. officials say that the U.S. military is preparing to inspect and seize commercial ships related to Iran in international waters within the next few days, expanding its naval operations beyond the Middle East.
At the same time, the Iranian military continues to strengthen control over the Strait of Hormuz, attacking several commercial ships on Saturday and announcing that the waterway is under Iran's "strict control."
These developments have caught shipping companies off guard, and just a day earlier, Iran's foreign minister claimed that the strait was fully open to commercial ships, a statement that was praised by President Trump.
