Finally breaking out of IDE plugins: GitHub launches Copilot as a standalone desktop application, supporting multiple agents running in parallel
GitHub releases Copilot Desktop Technical Preview, turning Copilot into an independent application for intelligent agent-driven development, supporting parallel management of multiple AI agents within the same interface, and creating separate work trees and branches for each session. Agents can collaboratively analyze and fix CI issues, write new features based on issues, without interfering with each other. New features include Agent Merge for automatic review, fixing, and merging of PRs, native integration with MCP and custom skills, available after enterprise authorization.
