Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 31, Aave released a retrospective on the rsETH incident on April 18, 2026, stating that Kelp's rsETH was affected by a cross-chain bridge from Unichain to Ethereum via LayerZero V2, which was compromised by an RPC poisoning attack on the verification network, accepting forged cross-chain messages, resulting in the abnormal release of 116,500 rsETH on the Ethereum side. The attacker then deposited some assets into eight positions on Aave V3 and borrowed out 82,650 WETH and 821 wstETH.

Aave stated that after the incident, they froze the relevant reserves, adjusted risk parameters, and coordinated multiple parties to promote recovery. As of May 26, the Ethereum-side adapter had completed five batches of replenishment, with a total deposit of 116,131.72 rsETH, restoring full support, and the relevant markets have returned to normal operation.
