ME News, May 16 (UTC+8): U.S. AI chip company Cerebras Systems officially listed on NASDAQ, becoming the largest IPO globally since 2026. The company raised approximately $5.55 billion, surged as much as 108% during the trading day, and closed its first day with a market value of $67 billion. The company’s flagship is a wafer-scale giant AI chip architecture, which the market views as an important competitor to challenge Nvidia’s GPU dominance, and it has already received compute-power orders from multiple AI companies including OpenAI. Of particular note, 1789 Capital—participated in by Donald Trump Jr.—appears on the company’s investor roster. Since 2025, the institution has taken part in two rounds of Cerebras financing, and in subsequent funding rounds it continued to step up its allocation for expansion. Cerebras completed multiple rounds of financing before the IPO, with its valuation once rising to $23 billion, and it attracted multiple institutions and industrial capital including Benchmark, Fidelity, AMD, and others, forming a diversified shareholder structure spanning both Silicon Valley and Wall Street. Analysts noted that this IPO is not only an important milestone for the AI chip sector, but also further amplifies the capital-concentration trend in the AI infrastructure space. Meanwhile, the appearance of investment institutions tied to political families adds even more market and public attention to the deal. (Source: ChainCatcher)

Nvidia is probably laughing when they see this; the real challenge is ramping up production capacity, not the competition.

$5.55 billion fundraising amount—this number is set quite deliberately, and the Wall Street narrative is fully dialed up.

67 billion market cap, backed by OpenAI orders, but the political background of 1789 Capital adds an extra layer of flavor to this IPO

How much unrealized profit does that money from Trump Jr. have now? The timing is too accurate.

Wafer-level chips are indeed sexy, but can cooling and yield support mass production?

From 23 billion pre to 67 billion at opening, tripling in half a year, AI bubble or genuine demand?

Doubled on the first day, this valuation jumped quite rapidly. Are wafer-level chips really that attractive?
