ME News Report, May 30 (UTC+8), bipartisan lawmakers Steven Horsford (NV) and Max Miller (OH) from the Democratic and Republican parties officially introduced the "Digital Asset Protection, Accountability, Regulation, Innovation, Taxation, and Revenue Act" (PARITY Act). The goal is to modernize digital asset tax rules, strengthen investor protection, provide market certainty, prevent abuse, and help ordinary people participate in crypto, build wealth, and reduce the wealth gap. Congressman Jason Smith, chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations, stated that any crypto tax legislation must have bipartisan support or it will not move forward. The U.S. Congress released a draft tax policy discussion document in March this year and held a bipartisan roundtable in May to discuss the tax framework for digital assets. Horsford and Miller are leading negotiations with the aim of passing the legislation by the end of 2026. The bill runs parallel to the CLARITY Act being advanced in the Senate. The article suggests that if both crypto bills (regulation + taxation) are passed simultaneously by 2026, along with rulemaking under the GENIUS Act, it will bring significant benefits to Web3 and DeFi, truly integrating crypto into the mainstream. Smith is right; without bipartisan support for tax reform, it's just a castle in the air.
PARITY and CLARITY run in parallel, combined with the GENIUS rules, only then is the DeFi compliance framework complete.
