Besant: The United States has seized approximately $1 billion in Iranian cryptocurrency.
ME News reports that the United States has seized approximately $1 billion in Iranian cryptocurrency assets, nearly double the government's previous estimate. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated at the 2026 Reagan National Economic Forum that Iran is stealing about $400 million to $500 million per month by evading sanctions; he also said that the U.S. has directly confiscated the other side's wallets. On April 29, he previously stated that the U.S. had seized nearly $500 million in Iranian cryptocurrency assets.
