Trump just posted calling himself the saviour of crypto.
The irony is hard to ignore.
$Bitcoin peaked at $109,000 in January 2025. The week Trump was inaugurated. Now sitting at $74,647. Down 31% since he took office.
$Ethereum peaked near $4,000 in January 2025. Now at $2,023. Down 49%.
Total crypto market cap lost over $1 trillion since inauguration day.
Trump says Gary Gensler nearly destroyed crypto. But crypto did better under Gensler than it has under Trump's first 16 months.
To be fair the regulatory wins are real. CLARITY Act passed Senate committee. Stablecoin bill moving. SEC dropped multiple crypto lawsuits.
But better regulations have not translated into better prices. Yet.
The gap between Trump's crypto promises and crypto's actual performance is the most uncomfortable story in the space right now.
Maybe policy wins take time to show up in price.
