AIMPACT News, May 28 (UTC+8), Cognition completed a $1 billion Series D funding round, with a pre-money valuation of $25 billion, more than doubling the valuation of $10.2 billion eight months ago. This round was led by Lux Capital and General Catalyst, with Founders Fund, 8VC, Ribbit Capital, Atreides, and Layer Global participating. Cognition is an autonomous AI software engineer developed by Devin, an engineer, who acquired the remaining shares of Windsurf last year. Its annualized revenue is now $492 million, and enterprise user usage of Devin has grown 50% per month over the past six months. Major companies such as Mercedes-Benz, NASA, Goldman Sachs, and Banco Santander are among its clients. The current coding agent market is highly competitive, with Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, and Jules launched after Google’s acquisition of Windsurf all occupying market share. This funding round indicates that top-tier venture capitalists still have confidence in independent AI software coding startups.
