ME News update: On May 16 (UTC+8), several key members of the U.S. House of Representatives jointly sent a letter to President Trump, urging him to appoint a full roster of commissioners for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), including Democrats. Within the committee responsible for overseeing the agency, both the top Republican and Democratic members believe that a complete five-member commission would “better serve” the public—especially as the commission takes on new responsibilities for cryptocurrency regulation. As new rules are proposed and the Clarity Act, which aims to regulate market structure, advances through the Senate, the agency will play a central role in regulating the cryptocurrency industry. On Friday, Glenn “GT” Thompson, the Republican chairman from Pennsylvania, and Angie Craig, the Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota, sent a letter to the president, calling for the nomination of four new commissioners—two from each party. At present, the agency is in an extremely rare situation: it is led by Republican Chairman Mike Selig, who is also the only commissioner. (Source: PANews)

Only a complete committee can legislate properly; currently, it is indeed handicapped.

The phrase "balance of two parties" sounds familiar; I hope it doesn't turn into a shouting match again.
