xAI launches Grok Build programming agent and signs a hundreds-of-millions-to-billions collaboration deal with Cursor targeting Claude

AIMPACT News, May 16 (UTC+8), xAI has begun early testing with paid subscription users for its first AI programming agent Grok Build, entering the software development tool sector, with the goal of surpassing Claude under Anthropic in the short term. xAI has reached an agreement with AI programming tool company Cursor, which is valued at $10 billion. According to the agreement, SpaceX has the right to acquire Cursor later this year for $60 billion or pay $10 billion to continue the partnership. xAI can quickly enter the programming tool market through Cursor's 360k paid users and their products, while Cursor will gain access to xAI Colossus's large-scale computing infrastructure. This deal is synchronized with SpaceX's anticipated IPO restructuring later this year, with the SpaceX IPO expected to become one of the largest in history.
