These days I was thinking about who really dominates the top of the list of the wealthiest, and the updated ranking brought some pretty interesting changes. The 20 richest men in the world are still mostly Americans, especially folks involved in technology and AI. Among the top ten, there are practically only Americans, with Bernard Arnault being the only European to make it into the top 10.
Elon Musk remains firmly at the top with his $358 billion. The guy owns Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, the X platform... and also has positions in Bitcoin (which is around $75K now), Ethereum, and Dogecoin. It’s like a diversified portfolio from someone who truly understands technology and the future.
Larry Ellison of Oracle is also there with $251 billion, solidified in the corporate cloud and AI market. Mark Zuckerberg follows in the same range, but now focusing on virtual reality and the metaverse through Meta. Jeff Bezos remains relevant with over $240 billion, even after stepping down as Amazon’s CEO. His rocket project, Blue Origin, is also still in development.
What I found most interesting was Jensen Huang from NVIDIA finally entering the billionaire group. The guy grew significantly on the list thanks to the AI boom. The company's GPUs dominate data centers and machine learning, so it makes sense.
Steve Ballmer, former CEO of Microsoft, has $174 billion. Larry Page of Google holds $165 billion and continues investing in aerospace technology and autonomous vehicles. Sergey Brin, also from Google, remains with $154 billion focusing on autonomous mobility and biotechnology.
Warren Buffett rounds out the top 10 with $141 billion. The guy is a reference in value investing and continues inspiring investors with his long-term strategy.
If you look at the 20 richest men in the world, you start to notice some very clear patterns. Almost all of them have a long-term vision, invest heavily in technology and innovation, and know how to diversify their portfolios. Many are in sectors that are growing rapidly, like AI and cloud computing.
The truth is, there’s no single formula. Warren Buffett does value investing, Elon Musk bets on radical technology, Bernard Arnault dominates the luxury market. But all share discipline and a well-defined strategy. If you’re trying to build wealth, the lesson is simple: diversify, invest in growing sectors, and truly follow global trends.
