Recently, I’ve been browsing PFPs and all kinds of membership cards again. It feels like everyone is betting on “becoming a brand in the future,” but honestly, most of the time it’s really just about locking in attention first. I do believe in long-term value, but we still need to start by looking at permissions: in the contract, who can change the rules, issue more supply, blacklist addresses, and whether community voting actually counts… these matter more than the story.

With an airdrop season plus a points system, the mercenary farming crowd is really competing like they’re at work now. And those task platforms are also packed with anti-bot/anti-sybil measures, which makes “membership” feel more like a KPI system instead of an identity. Anyway, I’d rather wait for the hype to pass and then look at retention: people who keep using and keep contributing. If membership benefits aren’t propped up by posting pictures and checking in, that’s what a brand should look like.

There are lots of tutorials. I usually only watch the ones that clearly explain permissions and risk control first; the flashy, gimmicky growth tactics can be skipped. Let’s start with this.
