Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company plans to invest about $150 billion a year in Taiwan, showing how important the country has become to the global AI industry.

Speaking at the launch of Nvidia’s new Taiwan headquarters project in Taipei, Huang said Taiwan is “the center of the AI industry”

“We went from spending $10 billion or $15 billion a few years ago to about $100 billion today, and soon it will be $150 billion a year,” Huang said.

Taiwan plays a major role in Nvidia’s business because many of its key manufacturing partners are based there, including TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, and Quanta.

The announcement also comes shortly after AMD revealed plans to invest more than $10 billion into Taiwan’s AI sector
