The Base blockchain launches the MCP gateway, supporting on-chain operations through AI interfaces such as Claude and ChatGPT.

PANews reported on May 27 that, according to The Block, Coinbase's incubated Ethereum Layer 2 network Base has released the MCP gateway, which can establish secure connections between AI interfaces such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor and Base wallet infrastructure. Users can now perform token swaps, transfers, and interact with Base ecosystem applications through natural language commands. The Base MCP is based on the open protocol MCP, first standardized by Anthropic. Upon launch, it will connect applications such as Morpho, Bankr, Moonwell, Avantis, Aerodrome, Virtuals, and Uniswap, covering lending, swapping, perpetual contracts, and the latest tokens and proxies issued on Base. The protocol is fully non-custodial; MCP servers do not have access to users' private keys. Proxies construct transactions locally, which are then reviewed and signed by users, using the OAuth 2.1 authentication standard.
