Are commodities igniting?

The tokenization engine has just shifted into a higher gear. On-chain real-world assets have surpassed a value of $34.1 billion in distributed value, with over 819,000 holders — a 10.5% jump in one day indicating adoption is accelerating faster than anyone expected. But the real fire is burning inside commodities, which exploded by 16.81% overnight.
🔹 The on-chain value of tokenized commodities has risen to $3.38 billion, a vertical movement driven by gold, silver, oil, and agricultural products that have found their way onto decentralized rails. Tokenized commodities have grown by nearly 600% since early 2025, led by gold through Tether Gold and PAXG, while crude oil futures now control about 28% of the category volume. Soybeans and soybean oil are each valued at around $400 million, and green finance exposure approaches $850 million — expansion across categories is real and accelerating.
🔹 Tokenized stocks surged 31.53% in a single session, surpassing the market threshold with a value of $1.6 billion. Ondo Finance and xStocks drive most of this growth, with tokenized ETFs, Tesla, Nvidia, and Coinbase among the largest individual listings. Derivatives volume for tokenized stocks hit a new record of $3.57 billion on May 18, confirming traders are embracing continuous 24/7 on-chain exposure to traditional securities.
🔹 Private credit, equities, and new fuel have been added. Collateralized credit increased by 6.23% to $5.31 billion, with Figure alone tokenizing $5 billion in consumer loans so far in 2026. Monthly loan volume hit a record $1.3 billion in April, and private equity rose 5.10% to $1.83 billion. A reorientation toward higher-yield sectors — with Treasury yields dropping to 2.99%, an 11.34% decline over seven days — is redirecting capital toward higher-yield sectors.
🔹 The broader structure is beginning to stabilize. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced that tokenizing real-world assets is one of eight core upgrades still needed for the financial system. XRP Ledger ranks fourth globally for tokenized real-world assets valued at $4.1 billion across 302 tokenized assets. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund surpassed $2.5 billion, and the total market for tokenized real-world assets has grown from $5.4 billion at the start of 2025 to $34 billion today. It’s no longer just a pilot program — it’s a structural migration.
Commodities have found a foothold on-chain, stocks are rewriting the 24/7 trading rulebook, and private credit quietly becomes the largest sector in the entire real-world asset market. The old walls between traditional assets and real-time blockchain settlement are fading. Which corner of this tokenization wave are you watching most closely?
