Analysis: Signs of runaway in U.S. Treasury yields, Wash faces a "big test" early in his tenure

ME News, on May 15 (UTC+8), the U.S. Treasury market has recently seen intense volatility, posing an important early challenge for the incoming U.S. Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Wausch. Subadra Rajappa, Head of Americas Research at Société Générale, said in an interview on Bloomberg TV on May 15 that, driven by expectations of accelerating inflation, the bond yield trend has shown clear abnormal behavior. Rajappa noted that the surge in energy prices caused by the Iran war is worsening U.S. inflation pressures, which will limit Wausch’s room to push for rate cuts—this policy direction had previously been supported by him personally and was also demanded by U.S. President Donald Trump. She said bluntly: “I’m starting to get a bit worried, because bond yields do seem to be somewhat out of control, and we should take seriously the signals being released by the bond market.” Expectations in the interest rate market have also shifted rapidly. Bloomberg’s compiled data shows that traders currently estimate the probability of the Federal Reserve raising rates before December at nearly two-thirds. And just on February 27—the day before the U.S. and Israel carried out military action against Iran—the market had widely been pricing in more than two rate cuts within the year. (Source: ODaily)

It feels like liquidity will tighten in the second half of the year, and crypto will have to shake a bit too.

Rajapa is right, the bond market is sometimes more honest than the stock market.
