According to researchers, the AI agent found solutions or major breakthroughs on 9 out of the 353 problems studied. Two of them had been considered unsolved for 56 years.
The “Erdős problems” are known to be extremely difficult because they involve number theory and deep mathematical structures. For decades, only a few specialists worldwide worked on them.
The AI didn't just perform quick calculations; it reportedly generated new approaches and reasoning capable of directly assisting human mathematicians.
