Whenever a new hot topic comes up, I tend to get itchy hands. Seeing the timeline all talking about AI Agents and automated trading, my mind automatically starts filling in the plot: am I going to miss out again… Anyway, the attention economy is best at using “you’re behind” to lure people into taking the bait. I’ve now set a simple rule for myself: don’t look at the narrative first, just see if the pool looks right—whether the depth is enough, if slippage is large, if the fee rates suddenly seem unreasonable, whether there are many transactions but the addresses are very concentrated, then put that aside for now. Later, I realized that the real people-getting is not the hot topic itself, but that you cut corners on safety and procedures to chase the trend: casually authorize contracts, follow bots to interact with a single click, and end up being phished while thinking you’re “automating.” Now I’d rather be a bit slower, first check authorization, isolate wallets, and then decide whether to participate. Missing out is fine; I can sleep more peacefully.
