AI is bringing the threat of quantum computing from "science fiction" into the "timeline."

Security researchers warn that AI-optimized quantum error correction and other bottlenecks could significantly accelerate the deployment of quantum computers. The elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) relied on by Bitcoin and Ethereum, in the face of sufficiently powerful quantum computing, makes reversing public keys to private keys only a matter of time.
The "collect first, decrypt later" strategy has already appeared—some institutions are pre-storing encrypted data, waiting for quantum decryption. This is not distant foresight but immediate concern.
Ethereum, Solana, Zcash, and others have begun researching post-quantum migration, but their solutions are large and slow, far from readiness. The industry may enter a long-term competition of continuous security upgrades, rather than a one-time upgrade that solves everything.
For traders, this is not an imminent black swan event, but projects betting on long-term security need to assess the true progress of their quantum-resistant roadmaps.
