Vitalik: EF will shift towards a smaller scale with clearer responsibilities, focusing on Ethereum's censorship resistance, privacy, and security features

Abstract generation in progress
Wu said that Vitalik Buterin stated that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) will shift towards a smaller-scale, long-term, more clearly defined organizational structure in the future, no longer acting as the "center" of the Ethereum ecosystem, but instead existing as a node with clear responsibilities. Since EF has limited resources and only holds about 0.16% of ETH, its focus will be on core areas such as censorship resistance, capture resistance, openness, privacy, and security, rather than broadly undertaking ecosystem development functions. Vitalik believes that Ethereum should not solely pursue extreme TPS and low latency, but should differentiate itself through CROPS dimensions such as formal verifiability, stronger consensus security, and reduced reliance on intermediaries; these goals do not conflict with scaling, L2, and lower slot times. He also stated that ETH is the most financially valuable product of Ethereum, but some work supporting ETH assets goes beyond EF's scope and requires other organizations within the ecosystem to share the responsibility.

Reducing intermediaries is actually not in conflict with the L2 route.

Clear responsibilities are a good thing; previously, EF tried to manage everything, but in the end, nothing was managed well.

Some work has been transferred to the ecosystem; which projects can handle it?

CROPS, this abbreviation is quite interesting; formal verification is the real deal.

It was about time to slim down; EF has indeed become too bloated over the past few years.

Resources are limited, so let the ecosystem bear the burden; the logic is self-consistent.

Can the node organization be made smaller so that decisions can be made more quickly?

Focusing on anti-censorship and privacy—that is the soul of Ethereum.
