ME News Report, May 24 (UTC+8), Eastern Time May 23 afternoon, U.S. President Trump posted on social media that the United States and Iran have basically reached an agreement. Trump stated that he just spoke with leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, discussing Iran issues and matters related to a "Peace Memorandum of Understanding." Trump claimed that an agreement between the U.S. and Iran has been essentially negotiated and awaits final confirmation by both sides and relevant Islamic countries. Additionally, he also had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The final stages and details of the agreement are currently under discussion and will be announced soon. Trump also said that, aside from many other contents of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will also be opened accordingly. However, Iran issued a statement saying that U.S. President Trump’s latest social media remarks about "opening the Strait of Hormuz" are "incomplete." According to the latest exchanged texts, even if an agreement is reached, the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be "managed" by Iran. Furthermore, although Iran agreed to allow the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to return to pre-war levels, it does not mean the strait will revert to pre-war "free passage" status. Iran emphasized that the management of the Strait of Hormuz, route planning, vessel passage times and methods, and licensing rights will still be fully controlled by Iran. Therefore, Trump’s related statements are incomplete and do not reflect the facts. (Source: PANews)

Both sides are talking past each other, and before the agreement is even finalized, they rush to seize the right to speak.

Old Talke said they basically reached an agreement again, Iran said that's not the case again, I'm tired of this script.

Pre-war level ≠ free passage, Iran is really good at this wordplay.

Who controls the Strait of Hormuz is indeed a big issue; it's not something that can be settled with just a signature.

Both sides are leaving themselves an escape route; I would be truly surprised if I signed.

What was the pre-war level? 2019? 2020? Who holds the defining authority?

Can this agreement still be pure with the Israeli Prime Minister getting involved?
