Rivian launches AI assistant, capable of controlling vehicle settings, air conditioning, and navigation
Rivian launched the AI assistant Rivian Assistant in the 2026.15 update, available to all Connect+ subscription/trial vehicle owners. Compatible with Gen1/Gen2 models, it can be activated via steering wheel buttons, touchscreen, or voice commands like “Hey Rivian/OK, Rivian,” running on a private cloud, with deep subsystem integration, capable of controlling settings, climate, navigation, media, communications, and consulting manuals, answering questions, retrieving information, and troubleshooting. Previously, Rivian received a $5 billion investment from VW, and its self-developed infotainment system received positive reviews, but there are no plans for CarPlay or Android Auto.
