Just realized a lot of newer traders don't actually know what PNL means, and honestly it's one of the most important things to understand if you're trading crypto. PNL stands for Profit and Loss, super simple right? But let me break down what it actually means in practice.

There are two types you need to know about. First is unrealized PNL, which is basically the gains or losses you're sitting on while your position is still open. Say you bought ETH at 3,000 and it's now trading at 3,500. You're up 500 on paper, but here's the thing, that profit isn't real yet until you actually close the position. The second type is realized PNL. This happens when you actually sell. If you close that ETH trade at 3,500, boom, your realized PNL becomes +500. That's real money now.

Then there's today's PNL, which is honestly one of my favorite metrics to check. It's basically the sum of all your wins and losses just for the current day. You'll see it in green if you're making money, red if you're taking losses. It updates in real time which is super useful for tracking how your day is actually going.

Why should you care about understanding what PNL is? Because it's not just about winning or losing, it's about actually understanding your trading movements. When you can read your PNL properly, you make way better decisions. You know when to cut losses before they get worse, or when to take profits instead of holding and watching gains evaporate.

Looking at the markets right now, BTC is sitting around 76K and down about 2.26% in the last 24 hours. ETH is at 2.07K, down 3.06%, and BNB is at 653, down 0.69%. These are the kind of moves where understanding your PNL becomes critical. You need to know if you're actually up or down, and whether your positions are working for you or against you.

So yeah, take time to actually learn what PNL is and how to read it. It'll change how you approach trading. What does your PNL look like today? Let me know in the comments.
ETH-4.29%
BTC-3.24%
BNB-2.48%
