I recently researched whether mining cryptocurrencies via the app on your phone is really worth it. The truth is, there are quite a few options available today, although the reality is quite different from what they promise.
The first one I found was CryptoTab, one of the oldest for this kind of thing. You install it, activate mining, and it automatically starts working on your BTC. It has a referral system where you earn if you invite friends, which is fine. Then there are cloud mining platforms, where basically you rent processing power instead of using your phone directly. There are several options here: StormGain stands out for its clean interface but requires restarting every 4 hours, which is annoying if you want something passive. NiceHash is popular for both beginners and more advanced users thanks to its profitability calculator, although you should definitely enable two-factor authentication. Bitdeer is another alternative that works well if you have a clear investment strategy and access to different plans.
Now, the real question is whether this actually works. Mining cryptocurrencies via app may seem easy in theory, but the market competition is fierce. You need to dedicate around 8 hours a day for it to make sense, and there’s always a risk of scams. Some believe it’s not worth it for these reasons. Others think differently and see mobile mining as an accessible way to make money, especially considering how technology might evolve in the coming years.
If you decide to try it on Android, the process is quite straightforward: choose an app, install it, create an account, set up your wallet to receive rewards, and select a mining pool. On iPhone, it’s more complicated due to Apple’s restrictions, so your best option is to use cloud mining apps.
Regarding which is easier to mine, based on what I’ve seen, Monero, Dogecoin, Vertcoin, and Ravencoin are the most accessible options in 2024-2025. But remember to consider the electricity costs in your area, because that can make all the difference in your profitability.
One important thing: mining a full Bitcoin from a smartphone takes forever due to the limited hardware power. The average time is about 10 minutes per Bitcoin under ideal conditions, so you would need specialized equipment or cloud services for something realistic.
My final advice is not to rush. Carefully study each app option for mining cryptocurrencies, understand the real costs, and what to expect. This isn’t a quick way to get rich, but it can be an interesting side project if you have patience.
