ME AI News, according to Data Observation Beating Monitoring, DeepSeek (Deep Exploration) is currently in the final stage of a massive funding negotiation amounting to up to 70 billion RMB (approximately 10 billion USD). According to informed sources, DeepSeek's executive team has explicitly promised during multiple roadshows and investor meetings that the company will take achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as its core strategic goal, and will focus entirely on exploratory R&D and open-source ecosystem development in cutting-edge AI, rather than short-term commercialization and profit pressures. Several individuals close to the deal pointed out that leading tech giants and top investment institutions, including Tencent Holdings, IDG Capital, and Monolith Capital, are close to confirming participation in this round of investment. The China National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund is negotiating and plans to invest about 10 billion RMB. Additionally, as DeepSeek's parent company and its earliest sole funding source, High-Flyer Quantitative and founder Liang Wenfeng also plan to invest a large amount of their own funds to deepen their follow-on investment, further demonstrating their long-term commitment to computing resources and model R&D. This infusion of external capital at the billion-dollar level marks the largest strategic shift since DeepSeek's founding. Previously, founder Liang Wenfeng had long adhered to a closed-door R&D approach that refused external funding, relying entirely on profits from High-Flyer Quantitative's hedge funds to support DeepSeek’s high expenses, ensuring R&D independence and avoiding short-term commercialization pressures. However, as the global arms race for large models sees exponential increases in costs related to computing infrastructure, ultra-large-scale clusters, and top-tier scientific talent, DeepSeek has chosen to proactively break through the barriers of closed-door R&D, attempting to leverage massive industry capital to directly advance toward the ultimate goal of AGI.
